Assistant Superintendent, Curriculum and Instruction
The Office of Curriculum and Instruction leads curriculum, instruction, assessment and accountability of the District’s educational programs. Our District’s strategic plan created a shared vision that guides teaching and learning in our school community. All instruction in the District is aligned with Ohio’s Learning Standards or Ohio Revised Code where applicable. Ohio’s Learning Standards describe the knowledge and skills that students should be able to demonstrate within each course’s curriculum.
Our vision to identify the individual needs of our students and provide comprehensive support is realized through the collaborative work of our teachers and teacher based teams. Teachers and instructional staff reflect on their craft while working together to analyze data for the purpose of making intentional instructional decisions. Ultimately, this work allows students to achieve and grow and for professional development to be tailored to the needs of the District, individual schools, departments, teacher based teams, grade levels, and/or individual teachers as appropriate. Additionally, we strive to incorporate STEM learning opportunities for our students through project-based and technology-rich classroom lessons and elective course options. Through reflection and data informed decisions, we will continue to examine what we are doing in our classrooms and its impact on the students we serve.
More information about Ohio’s Learning Standards can be found at Education Ohio.
