Title I

Title I, a provision of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act passed in 1965, is a federal aid program created by the United States Department of Education to provide funds to districts with a high percentage of students from low-income families.  North Royalton City Schools offers a Targeted Assistance Title I Program based on our percentage of families qualifying for financial assistance.  North Royalton City School District’s Title I program serves students in grades K-6 by providing supplemental reading and math services.  We utilize Title I funds to hire high quality instructors to work with students demonstrating that grade level academic expectations are below the expected level.  Title I tutors work collaboratively with classroom teachers and parents to meet the needs of each Title I served student.

Purpose: To help ensure that ALL children have equal access and opportunity to obtain the high quality instruction needed to meet challenging state academic standards.

Focus/Goals:

  • Targeted supplemental reading and math support provided using evidence based instructional strategies, designed to help students achieve grade level standards.

  • Multiple academic criteria referenced for student eligibility and selection of instructional strategies.

  • Regularly seek input from parents and students receiving Title I services to evaluate and strengthen program
