Title I
Title I, a provision of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act passed in 1965, is a federal aid program created by the United States Department of Education to provide funds to districts with a high percentage of students from low-income families. North Royalton City Schools offers a Targeted Assistance Title I Program based on our percentage of families qualifying for financial assistance. North Royalton City School District’s Title I program serves students in grades K-6 by providing supplemental reading and math services. We utilize Title I funds to hire high quality instructors to work with students demonstrating that grade level academic expectations are below the expected level. Title I tutors work collaboratively with classroom teachers and parents to meet the needs of each Title I served student.
Purpose: To help ensure that ALL children have equal access and opportunity to obtain the high quality instruction needed to meet challenging state academic standards.
Focus/Goals:
Targeted supplemental reading and math support provided using evidence based instructional strategies, designed to help students achieve grade level standards.
Multiple academic criteria referenced for student eligibility and selection of instructional strategies.
Regularly seek input from parents and students receiving Title I services to evaluate and strengthen program
