Changing of the seasons…
We are only a few weeks away from the end of the first quarter. This week we have been celebrating kindness by dressing for our spirit days and collecting kindness donations. The start of October gives us an opportunity to transition into new opportunities. We are closing out the successful fall sports season, only to launch the winter sports season. Band and choir concerts are on the horizon, and club activity is picking up with Power of the Pen tryouts, Honor Society activities, and Pokémon Go and STAND outings. Our students have lots of opportunities to get involved and connect with new people
As we move forward with the school year, please do not hesitate to contact your child's teacher, school counselor, grade level principal, or me with any questions.

Halloween Guidelines - Costume Day is Thursday, Oct. 31
I know our students are starting to plan for Halloween! Please remember basic dress code will be enforced, so if you have any questions, please refer to your agenda, which contains our Handbook and Code of Conduct.
The following exceptions will be permitted:
General Halloween costumes in good taste
Facial make-up
The following will not be accepted:
No masks that cover a student's entire face
Weapons of any kind - props
No article of clothing may be worn which displays ads or promotions for alcoholic beverage, tobacco, or any other drug; or which advocates violence, death, or use of force against any institution, individual, racial, ethnic, or cultural group; or displays inappropriate satanic or profane language.
Bare midriffs, tank tops, muscle shirts and transparent shirts or blouses are not permitted. All shirts should provide appropriate coverage for all areas of the upper body. Undergarments must not be visible.
Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT)
Students in the 6th grade will be taking the CogAT on Tuesday, October 4. Please click here to view an informational letter regarding this assessment.
Basketball Tryouts
Though it seems wild, it is time to start looking ahead at the winter sports season. Below you will find the pen gym and tryout schedule for girls basketball; please note a change to the tryout dates. We will release information about boys basketball in the coming weeks.
NRMS Fundraiser Conclusion & Cookie Dough Pick-up
Our Fall Fundraiser is now over. Cookie dough is the only item that does not get shipped. Please check your student’s account to see orders. All cookie dough orders will need to be picked up at NRMS on October 17 from 3:30-6:00 p.m.
