Ready, Set, Quarter 3

As we enjoy the long weekend and reflect on what we’ve accomplished during the first semester, I am reminded of a Martin Luther King Jr. quote: "Intelligence plus character—that is the goal of true education."

Today, one of our own team members led a PD that allowed us time to reconnect as a staff and learn about ways we can best support our kids and ourselves. As we head into the third quarter, we want to bring the right level of energy needed to help our kids venture into new clubs and activities, battle in end-of-season tournaments, face challenges and celebrate successes across the building, learn about how to be leaders, and make BEAR Way choices. I believe we are ready.

As we begin a new semester, please do not hesitate to contact your child's teacher, school counselor, grade level principal, or me with any questions. We will see our Bears back here Tuesday!

Thank you,

Erin

Popcorn Fundraiser

On January 18, students will learn about our winter fundraiser...Popcorn! The proceeds from this popcorn sale go directly back to our students for their 8th grade extended field trip to Washington D.C. The fundraiser will run from January 18-February 1. Click here for more information.

Looking to Donate to NRMS?

We are incredibly thankful for the amazing partnership we have with our caregivers and community members. That partnership has allowed us to do AWESOME things for kids and families that have experienced life circumstances beyond their control. Currently, we are looking for donations that will help some of our students make their full payment for the 8th grade Washington D.C. trip. If you are interested in helping our students experience this unique, student-centered trip to our nation’s capital, please give us a call at (440) 582-9120. Or you can drop-off a check at our main office. Your generosity is greatly appreciated.

Winter Tailgate

The Winter Tailgate on Thursday, Jan. 25 is a great way for students to get involved at NRMS. Tickets will go on sale on Jan. 22; please note that we will only sell 300 tickets for this event. The ticket provides students with pizza, water, and chips during the tailgate along with entrance into the 8th grade girls and boys basketball games vs. Nordonia. We ask that students not leave and come back between the tailgate and the start of the games. Once the first game starts, students can be picked up at any time from the Gold Gym. At the conclusion of the second game around 6:30 p.m., all remaining students should be picked up at the main entrance. We encourage all who attend the tailgate to stay for both basketball games.

Leadership Assemblies/Conference

On Wednesday, Jan. 31, NRMS is excited to welcome Cleveland Guardians Mental Performance Coach, Brian Miles! Brian Miles is going into his 9th season with Cleveland. In his role with the Guardians, Brian assists players and staff of the organization in the continued development to enhance performance and mental/emotional development. He is excited about helping our Bears understand their brain to body connection. Brian will focus on helping our kids learn about how their habits, decision-making, and intent impact their performance.

Prior to joining the Guardians, Brian worked for the United States Army as part of the Comprehensive Soldier and Family Fitness Program both at Fort Bliss (TX) and Fort Drum (NY). Brian has been consulting with Google since 2020, and has supported other teams such as NASA, Weaver Leather Company, Future Fitness, and ReliaQuest to further understand the brain-body connection.

First Annual NORO Showdown

North Royalton High School Choirs are ecstatic to invite 11 show choirs from across Ohio and West Virginia to the Dan Calabrese Performing Arts Center to compete for divisional, caption, and overall awards. Performances run from 9:00AM-4:30PM with daytime awards following at 5:30PM. Each ensemble will perform once during the day and the top 6 overall scoring choirs will move into finals from 7PM-9:30PM. After that, NRHS's own ROYAL HARMONY will premier their competition show entitled "Interstellar".

Spectators are welcome to watch as many performances as they'd like as well as check out our merchandise table, bake sale, raffle, send a candy gram to a participant, as well as have a meal from our concessions.

School Fees

Each year, the District assigns a school fee to students based on their grade level/course selections. This is typically provided to you in September, but the fee assessment was delayed until a couple of weeks ago. You can view these fees through the app or through your Powerschool account. You can submit payment for the fees through a check or through your PayForIt.net (Payschools) account.
