Welcome to a New School Year

August 7, 2023

Dear Bear Families, Welcome to the 2023-24 school year. I hope everyone had a great summer! We have had quite a bit going on this summer and look forward to seeing grades 1-12 on August 23, preschoolers on August 29 and kindergarteners on August 30.

The new District website and app were launched last week. You can stay up-to-date with access to events, documents, news from our buildings, student stories, and even emergency notifications.  Download the app for free on Google Play or Apple App Store

Please complete your student’s back-to-school forms in PowerSchool prior to the first day of school. The information must be completed in order for you to access your student’s schedule, teacher assignment, and grades. This also allows us to communicate with you and your family throughout the school year.  Directions can be found here.

In addition, be sure to check out our Back to School Online Family Reference Guide. We have gathered links to important information and resources designed to help you get this year off to an excellent start.   Our building custodial staff and maintenance team have worked hard to prepare our buildings and grounds for the coming year. Many facility projects also were completed.  Here are just a few highlights:

  • The High School Performing Arts Center is in the process of having the HVAC replaced.
  • The baseball and softball fields are under construction and will become artificial turf surfaces before winter arrives.
  • The stadium turf has been replaced.
  • The locker rooms and transportation facility renovations begin August 14.
  • Transportation now has fresh asphalt on all of their driveways and parking lots.

There are other projects that have been completed as well and we thank everyone who has worked to make these things happen. Our transportation team spent the summer revising, combining and reducing bus routes to help with the ongoing challenges we face to recruit and retain bus drivers. Routes will be released to everyone on August 16. You can read the full communication from last week here.

We are looking forward to partnering with you to make this year the very best for our students, staff and the entire NoRo Nation!

Sincerely,

Michael Laub
Superintendent
