Hard work, dedication, and a commitment to service have earned North Royalton High School sophomore David Visocky one of the highest honors in Scouting—the rank of Eagle Scout.
Visocky, a member of Troop 218 at Royal Redeemer Lutheran Church, was recognized in a special Court of Honor ceremony on March 23, 2025. He was honored by Congressman Max Miller, State Representative Mike Dovilla, North Royalton Mayor Larry Antoskiewicz, and City Council President Paul Marnechek. In recognition of his achievements, Mayor Antoskiewicz officially declared March 23rd as "David Visocky Day" in North Royalton.
Visocky’s scouting journey began in first grade when he joined North Royalton Cub Scout Pack 218. Over the years, he advanced through the ranks, becoming an Arrow of Light Scout before transitioning to Boy Scouts. His dedication to Scouting was evident as he earned 37 merit badges—16 more than the required 21.
He completed his merit badges at Scout camps, workshops, and in-person programs. Some, like the hiking merit badge, required a 20-mile trek, while his wilderness survival badge involved building and sleeping in an outdoor shelter made from tree limbs, leaves, and pine branches. Among his favorites were climbing, camping, and emergency preparedness, which emphasized essential life-saving and physical fitness skills.
As part of his journey to Eagle Scout, Visocky completed an extensive service project, renovating the chapel at St. Vladimir’s Orthodox Church Camp. His project included:
Constructing a walkway with pavers
Painting the chapel’s concrete floor and cupola
Renovating the church’s iconostasis
Crafting a new wooden cross using copper from the cupola of St. Theodosius Cathedral
His Eagle Scout project gained local, state, and national recognition, further highlighting his impact on the community.
State Representative Dovilla praised Visocky’s accomplishments, saying, "It was a privilege to participate in my first Eagle Scout Court of Honor since returning to the Legislature. These gatherings remain some of my favorite engagements with constituents, who are exemplars of faith, citizenship, and service."
Beyond Scouting, Visocky is a high-achieving sophomore at North Royalton High School. He is an honors student, a member of the school’s marching band, jazz band, and wind ensemble, and competes in cross country and track.
Earning the Eagle Scout rank is a rare and distinguished honor—one that only a small percentage of Scouts achieve. With this accomplishment, David Visocky has cemented his place as a role model, leader, and dedicated member of the North Royalton community.
