The City of North Royalton and North Royalton City Schools are excited to announce the opening of the tennis courts on July 4.
“It took a bit longer than we had hoped, but the final product is a much-improved playing surface for our students and residents of all ages, who regularly enjoy our tennis, basketball and pickleball courts. Pickleball has become a popular sport, and we are happy to offer two additional courts for our community to use. This project is just another shining example of the great relationship we enjoy with the School District. We are so fortunate to have a willing partner in our School District to accomplish many of the endeavors we invest in, together, for our residents,” Mayor Larry Antoskiewicz said.
In early March, the City, in conjunction with the School District, began replacing Memorial Park's six tennis courts. The City also added two new pickleball courts and replaced a full basketball court, as well as upgraded fencing, lighting and curbing.
School Superintendent Michael Laub said, “When the City and schools work together, everyone benefits! I appreciate the continued partnership we share with the City and the open communication from the Mayor. I am looking forward to our girls’ and boys’ tennis teams having a great place to compete and showcase their talents. Our goal is, and will continue to be, to provide the best experiences we can for our students in every program and activity we offer.”
The Mayor has been committed to improving the Memorial Park Complex, viewing it as an invaluable amenity of the community. Over the course of the last four years, he has added a state-of-the-art splash pad for youngsters, added a shade structure, completely rebuilt the nearby pavilion, extended the asphalt trail to loop the Memorial Park Pond and completely reconstructed the bridge.
“It’s a focal point in our community, a gathering place for families and students, so we want it to shine to its fullest potential,” Antoskiewicz said.
