North Royalton High School senior Albert Armin has been selected as a recipient of the highly competitive Gilder Lehrman-National History Academy Scholarship, securing him a full scholarship to attend the esteemed summer program.

In a letter of congratulations, the organizers of the National History Academy expressed their pleasure in inviting Armin to join the elite group of 90 students chosen from hundreds of applicants across the nation. This remarkable achievement grants Armin admission to the prestigious academy, which will take place from June 30 to July 26 at Foxcroft School in Middleburg, VA.

The Gilder Lehrman-National History Academy Scholarship is a full scholarship covering the entire cost of the program, which amounts to approximately $10,000.

The National History Academy offers an unparalleled opportunity for Armin to spend his summer walking in the footsteps of leaders who helped define and shape the American story, including Presidents, civil rights leaders, and soldiers who fought for the birth and survival of the nation. He will have the chance to see and learn about seminal documents that shaped American history from subject matter experts and master teachers, as well as gain behind-the-scenes access to historic sites no other program can provide.

The Academy's unique blend of formal and informal learning includes first-hand experiences at the nation's premier historic landmarks in Washington, DC, Virginia, Maryland, West Virginia, and Pennsylvania. The program explores extraordinary events and leaders of American history from pre-colonial times to the 21st century, focusing on major themes such as everyday life in the American colonies, the principles of liberty and equality, the divisive debate over slavery, the transformation of the national economy through industrialization and transportation, and the social and cultural impact of the struggle for civil rights.

“Albert’s selection for this prestigious scholarship is a testament to his dedication, academic excellence, and love for history,” said history teacher Marilyn Orseno. “His achievement brings great honor to North Royalton High School and the entire North Royalton community.”
