Hello Bear Families!
The holiday season is upon us! Winter break will start at the end of the school day on December 15 and we will return to class January 2, 2024! I hope everyone has a safe and relaxing holiday with family and friends.
This past Wednesday, December 13, we kicked off our Strengths Collaborative with students at our high school. We are one of 12 districts in the state of Ohio who have been asked to be a part of this strengths-based leadership development program. We have 150 students in our initial cohort and 15 staff members trained to guide them.
The purpose of this program is to look at leadership development by focusing on individual strengths rather than “what we need to improve upon.” We want our students to understand what they do well and how to use those strengths to lead. It also allows them to see the strengths in others and understand that everyone has something valuable to contribute to the team. The middle school will also be a part of this program after the first of the year.
We know that students who are engaged learn at a higher level. Developing a strengths-based leadership approach with our entire team will only increase the learning and development of our students. It will also allow our incredible staff to continue to develop as individuals and as a team.
I would like to end by thanking our three outgoing Board Members, Anne Reinkober, Heidi Dolezal and Dr. John Kelly. We appreciate their time and passion for our District and our community. I would also like to welcome Jackie Arendt, Chris May and John Higgins as new Board members who will be sworn in on January 4. Along with our two returning Board Members, Lisa Shuck and Jeremiah Sawyer, we have five people who truly care about our district and want to see great things for our students.
Happy Holidays!
Thank you,
Mike
