On November 21, fourth graders from North Royalton Elementary School (NRES) took a field trip to see the choir students at North Royalton High School (NRHS) perform.
The fourth graders arrived at the high school's Performing Arts Center around 9:15 am where NRHS's Concert Choir, Royal Adelines, Royaltones, and Royal Harmony greeted them. The high school students introduced themselves, shared what grade and activities they participate in, and how long they've been in choir.
The choirs then performed a selection of pieces from their upcoming winter concerts. Afterwards, the high school and elementary students teamed up to learn and sing a few Thanksgiving tunes together as one big ensemble. It was a great opportunity for the fourth graders to explore the choir program and a fun send-off before Thanksgiving break.
The elementary students observed the high school groups perform a variety of musical styles. They also learned three fun Thanksgiving songs to perform with their high school mentors. The joint sing-along is always one of the most enjoyable days of the year.
The visit gave the fourth graders a preview of the NRHS choir's winter concert on December 10 and 11. They experienced the traditions and camaraderie of the award-winning choir program they can join in fifth grade.
