Pictures for virtual Veterans Day program due by Nov. 4th
Albion, Royal View and Valley Vista Elementary Schools all had a long-standing tradition of supporting and honoring Veterans. Our staff and students at North Royalton Elementary School also take great pride in our connection to the Veteran community and the outreach that we have been able to provide in the past.
We are asking for our families to submit the names and pictures of any and all Veterans who have a connection to the North Royalton Elementary School Community. The best images are the ones that include an NRES loved one. To make submissions, please use the attached form.
The veteran your child is honoring can be a parent, sibling, grandparent or relative. While Veterans Day is typically a tribute to America's living veterans, it is also customary in our program each year to include our gratitude for those who have passed away.
We need to receive all submissions by Friday, November 4th in order to have time to complete the virtual pre-recorded video tribute that will be shared on our website and social media channels on Friday, November 11th.
Thank you to all of our Veterans and military families for your service to our great nation!
Celebrations to honor Veterans planned for Nov. 9th and 10th
The NRES Community would like to celebrate our freedom and honor the men and women who have served in our armed forces by observing Veteran's Day at two special breakfast events. Those who have a student with the last name beginning with A through L should attend on Thursday, November 9th from 7:45 to 8:15 a.m. Students with the last name beginning with M through Z should attend on Friday, November 10th, also from 7:45 to 8:15 a.m. For more details and to RSVP, please follow this link.
Food and Snack Guidelines at the Elementary Level
There have been a few questions from our families about the district's policy on shared snacks at the elementary level. For those who have not yet viewed the Elementary Shared Food Letter, follow the link for more details. It can also be found on our website by clicking Menu/Forms & Links/Elementary Forms & Links/Elementary Shared Food Letter.
While we no longer have a "Snack List" containing specific items that are permissible, we remain just as diligent that the health and safety of our students is of the utmost importance. The District adheres to guidelines for shared food and snacks so that we can promote safety, consistency, and equal access for the growing number of children who have life-threatening food allergies.
Homemade or home-baked food items to be served to students as a shared snack are not permitted at NRES. In addition, families and staff members will need to be meticulous to check that all store-bought items display an ingredient food label for allergen verification, as shared food and snacks must be free from peanuts and tree nuts. Additional restrictions, such as eggs and milk, may be instituted at the classroom level should a student’s health needs dictate.
When in doubt, please call the office at 440-582-9060 for assistance with shared snack questions.
Small denomination gift cards needed for staff surprises!
As a way to continue to enhance the culture and atmosphere at North Royalton Elementary School, we are seeking donations of small denomination gift cards that will be used throughout the year for staff surprises. Donations we have received so far are $5 to $10 gift cards for businesses like Dunkin', Starbucks, Target, Giant Eagle and more.
Periodically during the year, Mr. Pavelich travels the halls with a Snack and Beverage cart that brightens the day and lifts the spirits of our wonderful staff at NRES. The donated gift cards will be hidden among the items contained in the cart as a special surprise gift for the teachers and support staff at the building. If you would like to help, just stop by the main office and let our staff know you are donating for this worthy cause!
