North Royalton City Schools’ Kindergarten Registration for the 2023-24  School Year Begins February 1, 2023

Residents of the North Royalton City School District who have a child turning five years old prior to August 1, 2023,  are invited to register their child for kindergarten beginning February 1, 2023.  

For the 2023-24 school year, the District will be holding in-person registration.  The dates for registration will be February 21, 22, and 23, 2023.  On February 21-22, registration will be held from 7 a.m. -3 p.m. in the Community Room.  The Community Room is located at the front of North Royalton High School, 14713 Ridge Road.  On February 23, registration will be in the Community Room from 12-7:30 p.m.  A new component of the in-person registration will be that you will sign up for a specific time to bring all required documents to the in-person registration. There will be a link on the registration page of the District’s website that you will click on to sign up for that appointment.

There are several components of the new online process that MUST be completed in order for your child to be registered.  Please log onto the website www.northroyaltonsd.org for information and links to registration.

The District will be offering both the all day, every day option, which is tuition-based, and the ½ day option. There is a change to the ½ day program beginning with the 2023-24 school year. The choices for the ½ day program will be Monday-Friday 9-11:45 a.m. for the AM session and 12:45-3:30 p.m. for the PM session.  The decision to change to the AM every day/PM every day session was based on several factors, including the consistency of students attending each day, the availability of larger blocks of time for academic instruction, and access to support and services on a daily basis.  Parents will be able to select a preference for AM/PM. Finalization of the AM/PM assignments will be provided to parents of the ½ day program in early June.

The cost for the all day, every day option for the 2023-24 school year is $2,500.  Should the number of all day kindergarten registrations exceed the number of spots available, a lottery will be held.  This will occur on March 31, 2023.  You must have completed all components of registration by the end of the business day on Friday, March 4 with all required paperwork completed and submitted in order to be considered for the all day, every day kindergarten.  Families not interested in the all day, every day option will be enrolled in the half day AM or PM sections.

EARLY ENTRANCE (GRADE ACCELERATION) TO KINDERGARTEN:

Parents in the North Royalton City School District who are interested in learning more about early entrance to kindergarten, which is also considered grade acceleration, for their child should call the Office of Pupil Services at 440-582-9140 by April 8, 2023 for an explanation of the Early Entrance process.

A child may be considered for early entrance (grade acceleration) if the child’s fifth birthday falls between August 1 and December 31, 2023.  The child must also meet district screening criteria in the areas of pre-academic, social and emotional development.  Upon meeting these screening criteria, an additional assessment in the area of cognitive ability will be required.
