Darren Fidel, a senior at North Royalton High School, is making waves in the world of digital design and leadership. Enrolled in the Cuyahoga Valley Career Center’s (CVCC) Digital Design program under the guidance of Melissa Munro, Darren has embraced his passion for photography and creativity, turning it into a promising future.
His journey began with capturing nature and outdoor scenes on his Google Pixel phone, a hobby that led him to pursue formal training at CVCC. Now, he thrives in the program, enjoying hands-on experiences in the photo studio, working with professional equipment, and engaging in creative projects. Reflecting on his time at CVCC, Darren credits the program for honing his skills and boosting his confidence. “This program has made me realize what I want to do and achieve,” he said, expressing gratitude for his instructor, Mrs. Munro, who has also helped him find job opportunities.
Darren’s ambitions extend beyond the classroom. He plans to continue his education at Tri-C, with a potential transfer to Kent State University, aiming to become a freelance photographer and creative professional. His dedication has already earned him recognition—he secured two 1st place awards in Advanced Desktop Publishing and Fundamentals of Desktop Publishing through Business Professionals of America (BPA). Additionally, his talents in sculpture design earned him 3rd place in the SkillsUSA Creative Sculpture Design Contest last year, and he’s determined to claim 1st place at the state competition in March.
Beyond his academic and artistic pursuits, Darren is an active member of his school community. He participates in video game club, board game club, chess club, and choir. As a dedicated Scouts BSA member, he is working toward earning the prestigious Eagle Scout rank, recently contributing to a community project at Richfield Heritage Preserve by helping build benches, install grills, and enhance the park.
With his creative drive, leadership skills, and passion for photography, Darren Fidel is well on his way to achieving his dreams. His future in the arts and beyond looks incredibly bright.
