North Royalton City Schools Board Member John Higgins will be resigning his seat on the Board of Education effective May 20, 2024. Higgins has accepted a job in Cincinnati.
The laws in the state of Ohio require that the remaining Board of Education members appoint a replacement to fill this vacancy within 30 days. Interested candidates must be registered to vote and live within the North Royalton City School District’s boundaries. The application procedures to apply for the open vacancy on the North Royalton Board of Education can be found on their website, www.northroyaltonsd.org or linked here.
Applications must be submitted to Treasurer Biagio Sidoti by 3 p.m. on May 21, 2024. They can be mailed to 6579 Royalton Road, North Royalton, Ohio 44133 or emailed to biagio.sidoti@northroyaltonsd.org.
“We are interested in a candidate who is always willing to do what is in the best interest of the children of the North Royalton City Schools,” said Board President Jackie Arendt. “Furthermore, it is important that applicants realize the meeting dates and times are set for 2024. Candidate interviews will take place on May 23 from 4 - 8 p.m. and May 24 from 9 a.m. - noon. May 29 will be kept open for interviews depending on the number of applicants. The swearing in of the candidate chosen will take place at a meeting in June. The newly appointed member shall serve until December 31, 2025, as a special election conducted by the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections in November of 2025, will determine who fills the seat for the remainder of the unexpired term (expiring December 31, 2027).
