Dan Dyson

North Royalton City Schools has recognized Dan Dyson as the 2023-24 Friend of Education for his unwavering commitment and invaluable contributions to the district and school community. Dyson, a 1983 graduate of North Royalton High School, has been an active member of the North Royalton Stadium Foundation since its inception and currently serves as its chairman.

Dyson's involvement with the District extends far beyond the Stadium Foundation. He co-chaired and served on committees for the District's bond campaigns, ensuring the successful passage of crucial funding initiatives. Additionally, Dyson has coached youth football and baseball, further demonstrating his dedication to supporting students and athletics in the community.

The Friend of Education award honors individuals who have significantly contributed to North Royalton City Schools, inspired and empowered students, and dedicated themselves to making North Royalton and Broadview Heights exceptional places to live and learn.

Dyson's roots in the community run deep, having played high school football in the very stadium that underwent a significant renovation thanks to the efforts of the Stadium Foundation. With a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Sports Management and Administration from Bowling Green State University, Dyson's passion for athletics and education has been a driving force behind his involvement.

As the owner of Dyson Construction LLC in Broadview Heights, Dyson has not only built a successful business but has also invested his time and resources in supporting the district's initiatives. His commitment to the community extends to his family.  His wife, Kim, has supported her husband and has been co chair for many events including the Night at the Races, PTA events and cheer and football mom duties. Their son, Drew, a 2019 graduate of North Royalton High School and former football player, now owns D & D Excavation Company in Broadview Heights. Their daughter Hailey, a 2021 graduate and four-year varsity football cheerleader, is currently pursuing a degree in health care studies with a minor in marketing at Ohio University.

Elected as the Chairman of the North Royalton Stadium Foundation (NRSF) in August 2017, Dyson has played a pivotal role in the organization's success. The Stadium Foundation was formed to financially support the District's stadium project, pledging $1.2 million toward the original turf and track installation in 2011. Recently, the Foundation split the cost of a new video scoreboard and electronic sign, contributing approximately $100,000, and pledged to pay for the new turf installed in 2023, with a total cost of $516,000.

The Stadium Foundation raises funds through various initiatives, including the sale of stadium signage, naming rights, a golf outing, reserve seating, a car raffle, and a partnership with the Taste of North Royalton event.

Despite his significant contributions, Dyson remains humble, attributing the Foundation's success to the collective efforts of past and present trustees. "I actually feel like the quarterback on a winning football team who gets too much recognition for the team's success," Dyson remarked. "The NRSF enjoys its success due to the efforts of all the foundation's past and present trustees. It's a total team effort, and I am blessed with such a great team!"
