North Royalton High School Student Receives Award for Aspirations in Computing

North Royalton High School senior Varuni Chopra received an Award for Aspirations in Computing from the National Center for Women & Information Technology (NCWIT).  Award recipients are selected based on their aptitude and aspirations in technology and computing, as demonstrated by their computing experience, computing-related activities, leadership experience, tenacity in the face of barriers to access, and future plans.

Chopra will receive an engraved award, customized medal, certificate, and numerous scholarship and internship opportunities.  She will be inducted into the AiC Community, a national network of peers, supported by professionals and volunteers.

The Ohio affiliate selected Chopra as an affiliate award winner based on her significant demonstration of the following: progression in computing experiences and technical skills; leadership through teams, clubs, and teaching peers; and participation in computing-related extra-curricular activities.

In addition to this award, Chopra received a scholarship for $3,200 from the National Honor Society (NHS). Recipients are chosen based on their demonstrated work to support the four pillars of NHS: scholarship, service, leadership, and character.
