Jackie Arendt was elected as a member of the North Royalton Board of Education in 2013, 2017 and 2023. 

In her time as a Board member, she was a representative on the Cuyahoga Valley Career Center Board.  She taught sociology and health sciences research courses at Cuyahoga Community College, Cleveland State University and Kent State University. Jackie also has served as a president, chairperson and trustee for the North Royalton Association for Gifted and Talented and the North Royalton Educational Foundation. She has been active in PTA for more than 30 years serving as a committee member, committee chairperson, and several officer positions including Albion Elementary School PTA President. Jackie also was past president of the Ohio PTA's Board after serving as president from 2021-2023. She has served on Ohio School Boards Association's (OSBA) Federal Relations Network and board member cabinet as well as a member of the Northeast Regional board for OSBA. 

Jackie was the recipient of the Ohio PTA State Achievement Award in 2003, the National PTA Achievement Award in 2022, SouthEast Mothers Of Twins Club Mother of the Year in 2004, the Cleveland State University Sociology Department's Distinguished Student Award in 2006, and OSBA's Award of Achievement in 2016 and Master Board Member in 2019. 

Her academic achievements include a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Cleveland State University. 

Jackie and her husband, David, are active members of the community.  Jackie, along with her four daughters, all graduated from North Royalton City Schools.

Lisa Shuck is in her second year as a North Royalton Board member and serves for a second term on the committees of Student Achievement, and Curriculum & Instruction and Pupil Services. She is also an alternate member of the Transportation Appeals Committee and will serve on the Financial Advisory & Audit Committee.

Lisa has been an active member of the North Royalton Athletic Boosters for several years and has served as a board trustee the last five years. Lisa remains an active Athletic Booster trustee.

Lisa has volunteered her time at several North Royalton athletic fundraisers including Night at the Races and leading the gold card sales program.

Lisa has been a member of the North Royalton community for 30 years. She has raised three children with her husband, Ron, of 33 years. Lisa has one recent North Royalton High School honors graduate and two children currently attending North Royalton City Schools.

Lisa holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing from Ohio University. She has been employed by The Cleveland Clinic as a registered nurse for 27 years in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit.  

Carlin

Carlin Culbertson

Carlin Culbertson was elected a member of the North Royalton Board of Education in June 2024.

Carlin, a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and Director of Finance for Summit Construction Company, will serve on the Board until December 31, 2025. A special election conducted by the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections in November 2025 will determine who fills the seat for the remainder of the unexpired term, which expires on December 31, 2027.

Carlin brings a wealth of experience and a commitment to public service. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of Akron, with a minor in Entrepreneurship. His civic and professional involvements include serving as a past board member (2017-2023) and board president (2022-2023) for the Adoption Network of Cleveland, as well as a past board member for Cleveland Hearing and Speech (2020-2023). Additionally, he was a past appointee to The Great Lakes Ohio Regional Child Abuse and Child Neglect Prevention Council, representing Cuyahoga County (2019-2023).

Currently, Carlin is a member of the Associated Builders and Contractors Political Action Committee and the North Royalton Elementary and Middle School PTAs. He also served on the North Royalton School's Community Facilities Advisory Committee after the school bond issue passed.

Carlin, and his wife, Megan, have two children attending North Royalton City Schools, a fifth-grader at the middle school and a second-grader at the elementary school. He also has a two-year-old and a nine-month-old who will eventually attend North Royalton as well.

Chris May was elected as a member of the North Royalton Board of Education in 2023. 

Chris is a lifelong public education advocate who has been actively involved in North Royalton City Schools for more than 20 years. She served as PTA president at Royal View Elementary, North Royalton Middle School, North Royalton High School and the North Royalton Council of PTAs. She currently volunteers as the Ohio PTA Region 4 Advisor and serves on the North Royalton Educational Foundation. 

Through the years, she also served on the District’s Strategic Planning Committee, Transportation Committee, the Committee for Royalton Schools’ Future, levy and bond committees, and as a parent representative on the superintendent search committee, in addition to many others. She is the recipient of the Ohio PTA Achievement Award and the 2017 North Royalton Friend of Education Award.

Chris holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Indiana University. She worked for more than a decade in sales for a major consumer packaged goods processor before becoming the owner of an international franchise and, later, part-owner and director of marketing for a local consulting business. She has also served on the boards of numerous non-profits, and was appointed to the Jail Task Force Committee for the City of North Royalton in 2020.

She and her husband, Todd, have called North Royalton home for more than 30 years. Their two children graduated from North Royalton High School in 2016 and 2022. 

Jeremiah Sawyer

Jeremiah Sawyer is in his second year as a North Royalton School Board Member. He served on the Financial Advisory and Audit Committee during his first year and is a delegate for the Policy Committee this year. He is serving his second year on the Business Advisory Committee and the North Royalton High School PTA.

Jeremiah has lived in North Royalton for more than 20 years, where he has used his extensive knowledge in business, education, service, medicine, and industrial manufacturing in his professional and personal life. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering from The Ohio State University and a master’s degree in Business Management from Walsh University. Jeremiah has led a surgical instrument service and repair center for STERIS-IMS for nine years and has served as a board member and treasurer for Broadview Heights Family Medicine for 15 years. His wife, Michelle, works as a family physician and is an owner there as well.

In addition to his business experience, Jeremiah has nearly 20 years of experience as a coach for baseball, football, wrestling, and soccer. He remains active in the community through his foundation FINISH (Families In Need I Support & Help), which helps North Royalton families to pay for utilities, food, and school supplies. He and his family are also active members of St. Albert the Great Church.

Jeremiah and his wife have four children: Jake, Luke, Nate, and Hope. Jake currently attends Toledo University Medical School, Luke is a student at Heidelberg University, Nate is a junior at North Royalton High School, and Hope is in eighth grade at North Royalton Middle School.
