Let’s all go “green’ together!

In an effort to kick off a renewed focus on “green activities”, the environment and conservation at Royal View, we will be celebrating “earth day” during the week of May 10th. We have begun by beautifying our grounds with a donation from maria gardens of a plant and a birdbath!

We will be collecting pennies for the entire week to assist the National Wildlife Federation in efforts to clean-up the Gulf Coast oil spill.

Students will be helping to plant a tree donated from home depot on Wednesday, may 12th. We are asking students and staff to wear green colored clothing on Wednesday to show royal view’s commitment to improving our environment.

Wednesday is an “appliance free” day in our cafeteria. The menu for Wednesday and Friday will be switched. Turkey subs will be served on Wednesday, May 12th and Dominos Pizza will be served on Friday, May 14th.

Earth Day - Green Week Activities May 10-14, 2010

·On Wednesday: Students and staff wear green, Earth Day, flower, plant, or animal shirts.
·On Wednesday: Tree planting in front of school at 10:20 am. Details to follow.
·On Wednesday: No Cook Day in the Cafeteria – serving only foods prepared without the oven/stove.
·On Wednesday: All students receive a copy of Explore the Outsdoors. Please read and discuss this book in homerooms before sending it home.
·All week: Read the book, The Lorax, a book about the environment. Four copies will be passed around the grade levels during the week.
·All week: Penny Drive to assist the National Wildlife Federation in efforts to clean up the Gulf Coast oil spill.
·During the week: Take a walk to the Courtyard to look at the new donated Birdbath. Discuss our Courtyard as a protected animal environment.
